I got hired on Friday! Two weeks after graduating from college! And all my interviewers (now Principal and fellow teacher) could say was how impressive my resume was.
My best tip for those still matriculating - Internships, ladies and gents. You must, must, must have internships under your belt before you graduate. They make your resume golden in the eyes of potential employers.
I will be teaching an upper elementary grade (3rd, 4th, or 5th), and either Language Arts&Social Studies or Math&Science. I'm cool with any combination, and I love social studies and science so.... whatever I'm assigned I know I can do it.
So I'm a college grad with a job. That's a major nervous breakdown we can avoid. Now to make sure I'm as prepared as possible to make my students amazing. I know they will be. They must be. They're mine.

Packing Problem = Solved (Kind of..)
I'm all moved in to my new apartment. Besides the total chaos that is all these unpacked boxes and bags, I'd say it went pretty smoothly. I didn't end of packing much of anything until the day of the move. Good thing I didn't have much. But I only had my mom, my aunt, and their car and truck for help and transportation. Which meant endless trips up and down the elevator at the new apartment and the old place. We got it done in about 4 hours.... not sure if that's good or bad. Now I'll spend Memorial Day putting together my new bookshelf and unpacking as much as I can before I leave for ten days....
Still haven't packed for that. I leave in 72 hours. Yikes.

The Other Packing Problem
I'm Miss Rich, and I have never been on a plane.
Okay, once, but I was too young to remember.
I have to pack to be away for ten days. I have no idea of the rules and things for carry-ons and luggage checking and weight restrictions and that whole thing about 3 oz bottles of lotion and toothpaste. I will also be attempting to pack for this trip after packing my whoel life away and moving to a new place. Pack, unpack, repack, come back, unpack.
...ever had so much to do that you just decide to sleep? Yeah. Night night.

The Packing Problem
My apartment.....is a wreck.
I've justified not cleaning up for the past week because I'm moving in 10 days. So, I figure, why put things away when I will just pull them out to pack them soon. Right?
....Nope.
I have no idea where to even begin. I have to gather all my things from + clean my bedroom, bathroom, kitchen, and hallway closet.
And here I am. Staring at the mess. Sitting on top of it. Typing about it.
This is when being a real-life "grown up" gets awkward. Mommy knows how to pack. She knows where to get boxes, what to pack first, and how to arrange everything so that nothing breaks. But Mommy is 300 miles away. So I'm skulking around behind restaurants and grocery stores, swiping boxes that would probably would be easily given to me.
Sigh.
I am going to go try really hard to make progress. I can't make any promises though.

And so it is...
I have no idea what to do. Or should I say, I'm learning as I go.
I have exactly 2 weeks to finish up my internship, pack up my apartment, move to my new place, and get ready to go (on my first plane ride, EVER!) to volunteer at a national training for one of my favorite non-profit organizations... Only to return in about 2 weeks to get ready to go to teacher training for 5 weeks.... Then to return for a couple days of breathing space before I am a real live teacher.
Overwhelmed is NOT the word. I am very excited. Nervous. Anxious. But mostly excited.
I am a big picture kinda girl, so all the details of my move and logistics of my trips and tying up all these different loose ends is dizzying, to say the least. I just want to do everything and do it well.
Oh. And I have to find a new cell phone carrier. Random, but yet another loose end. Grrr.
It is the day after my college graduation. Adult life has officially begun.
